Covid Hackshaw, right, of Cambria Heights, recently was awarded a $5,000 scholarship by the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association to the Whitestone campus of Lincoln Technical Institute to study a career in the automotive industry.

Hackshaw, seen with GNYADA Chairman Robert Vail, was a U.S. Marine for 22 years and served in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq.

He was one of four people awarded the benefit this month under the organization’s Automotive Education Scholarship for U.S. Veterans program.
