The Jamaica Center Business Improvement District has announced the appointment of Felicia Tunnah as its new executive director.

Tunnah, a native of New York and a resident of Brooklyn, will take over effective Sept. 9, when Laurel Brown, the current executive director, leaves to join the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership.

Brown has been with Jamaica Center for four years.

“Working here in downtown Jamaica has been nothing short of amazing,” Brown said. “In a neighborhood this dynamic, you can’t help but to come to work every day and be inspired.”

Tunnah has worked in the field for more than a decade.

She has worked for the Downtown Alliance and, most recently, the Union Square Partnership.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Vasser College and a Master of Arts degree in urban planning from the University of Pennsylvania.

“Downtown Jamaica has it all and I’m excited to now be a part of it,” Tunnah said in a statement issued by the BID.

Welcome to the discussion.
