A father was killed last Wednesday in his South Jamaica home as he tried to protect his children from his violent, drug-addicted brother, whom he had an order of protection against.

Police discovered Clinton Forde, 29, inside his 148th Street home with a stab wound to his torso at approximately 7:20 a.m. His 1-year-old daughter had a laceration to her neck, according to the NYPD.

EMS transported Forde to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The child was taken to North Shore University Hospital in stable condition.

Forde’s brother, Gideon, 33, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, manslaughter, burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, violation of an order of protection and resisting arrest, according to the NYPD.

Citing family sources, the Daily News reported that Gideon Forde, of Brooklyn, stabbed the little girl, Ashley, while she was sleeping, but only after attacking her 9-year-old brother, Isaiah, first. He was unharmed.

As Clinton struggled to fend off Gideon, whom he allowed to move in with him in an effort to get him off drugs, his brother allegedly stabbed him, the paper said.

The murder wasn’t the only tragedy in Southeast Queens last week. On Thursday a fire ripped through a home, killing a beloved grandmother as her family ate dinner on the first floor unaware of the fire above, according to the Daily News.

The blaze at 146-03 120 Ave. was reported to the FDNY at around midnight and firefighters were on the scene three minutes later, a spokesman for the department said. Some 12 units and 60 firefighters responded to the all-hands fire, and it was brought under control at 12:39 a.m.

The victim, who was identified in the Daily News report as Elaine Spencer, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FDNY. The spokesman said there were smoke detectors in the dwelling, but they did not have batteries in them. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cody Kahn, 20, of 145th Road in Jamaica was shot in the chest in front of 147-17 123 Road, also in Jamaica, at around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, according to the NYPD. EMS responded and pronounced Kahn dead at the scene. No one was immediately arrested.

Later that day, at around 5:45 a.m., another Southeast Queens killing occurred, at the corner of 209th Place and 111th Road in Hollis.

When officers arrived, they found a man, 28, slumped over the steering wheel of a blue 2011 Nissan Altima and another man, 31, collapsed nearby on the sidewalk. Each victim had a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the NYPD.

EMS responded and transported both men to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where the first victim was pronounced dead on arrival and the second victim was in stable condition.

The name of the deceased was still being withheld at press time, pending family notification.

In another recent crime, Darren Alston, 26, is accused of violently stabbing Jeffrey Abelard, 27, nine times following an argument on Jan. 29 near Guy R. Brewer Boulevard and 137th Avenue in Springfield Gardens, at around 1:45 a.m., as detailed in a complaint filed by Police Officer James Zozzaro of the 113th Precinct with the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Zozzaro’s report said he observed the two men slapping each other in the head before Abelard fell to the ground and Alston started kicking him about the body.

When Zozzaro approached the men, Alston took off on foot. Abelard, meanwhile, was bleeding from his stomach and his intestines were protruding from the wound, according to the complaint. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

Zozzaro reported that Officer Matthew Vorraro told him that he apprehended Alston in front of 137-18 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. and that he allegedly confessed to the crime, as well as admitted to tossing the knife under a van. Vorraro further stated that he recovered the bloody weapon near the location where he nabbed Alston.

Alston is being charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the DA’s Office. He was arraigned on Jan. 30 and is being held on $250,000 bail. His next court date is Feb. 10.
