Adjoa Nyarko, center, a Howard University student from Cambria Heights, was recently recognized for her service as an intern in the Capitol Hill office of Rep. Gregory Meeks.

Adjoa, an English major who is active in campus organizations and also mentors high school students in Washington, DC, got the position through the prestigious Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Internship Program, which is supported by the New York Life Insurance Company. Students in the program were honored at a reception during which they also posed questions to a panel of black executives from New York Life about their personal and work-related achievements.

Here Adjoa is congratulated by Ervin Johnson, the CBCF’s program coordinator, and Linda Hazan, New York Life’s corporate vice president for diversity. The firm is in its 10th year of supporting the internship program.
