The NYPD’s 105th Precinct is asking residents to take precautions against a rash of burglaries that have taken place in the Rosedale area in recent weeks.

Police said that burglars have been entering houses through side and rear windows and doors between the hours of 7 and 10 a.m. Residents are being asked to report any suspicious people or activities to the police.

The precinct also is reminding homeowners and residents to take simple precautionary measures which can reduce their risk of being burglarized.

These include closing and locking all windows and doors, and installing secondary locks when possible.

People also are being reminded not to leave personal electronic devices such as laptop computers, iPods, cell phones or GPS devices out in plain view near windows in their homes or vehicles.

Additional crime prevention tips are available from the 105th Precinct’s Crime Prevention Office at (718) 776-9207.

The precinct covers Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Bellerose, Glen Oaks, New Hyde Park and Floral Park.

Welcome to the discussion.
