Maurice Johnson, 24, of St. Albans was shot early last Thursday, and died at the scene, according to the NYPD. No one was immediately arrested in connection with the crime.

At a little after midnight, police responded to a 911 call of a man shot in front of 172-40 133 Ave. in Jamaica. When they arrived, they found Johnson, of 161st Street, with bullet wounds to the head.

The numbers of homicides within the 113th Precinct, where the Johnson killing occurred, has remained the same for the year to date through March 4, compared to last year, with two, according to the latest Compstat report. Felony crimes overall, however, are up by about 10 percent for the same time period with 373 in 2012 compared to 339 in 2011.

In another case of area violence, this one in St. Albans, a home health aide is accused of beating a 90-year-old woman in her care, the NYPD said.

The victim’s daughter told the police that she had left her mother with Ramdai Narine, 48, of Far Rockaway on March 4, and when she returned the next day she found her mother with bruising to her eye and a laceration to her lip.

Narine was later arrested on March 8 and charged with second-degree assault and second-degree harassment.
