Ghouls, goblins and goodies galore were the order of the day at JHS 8 in Jamaica last Thursday as state Sen. Malcolm Smith (D-Hollis) hosted a Halloween party for hundreds of young revelers.

“A lot of parents worry that trick-or-treating might not be safe, or some with their work schedules might not be able to take their children,” Smith said. “This allows children to have a good time in an atmosphere that is safe and fun.”

Key Food donated 600 small pumpkins for students to decorate for the occasion and keep. Dancing and face painting were featured, and all students received a bag of candy.

WellCare, a medical insurance provider, served as a sponsor of the event.
