All things metal at the northern end of Rufus King Park, from manhole covers to the park’s fence, have been cordoned off on the southern side of 89th Avenue in Jamaica between 150th and 153rd streets as Con Edison looks to address a leak of electricity.

Con Ed spokesman Allan Drury said the condition was discovered on or about July 15 by a utility crew trained to identify such leaks, which can occur when insulation around underground wires gets old or is corroded by things like road salt.

A city parks official said he had not been informed of the reason for the cones and yellow caution tape by the utility.
