Curly Hall of the Black Cowboys paid a visit to state Sen. Malcolm Smith’s annual Jump & Ball basketball tournament on Aug. 17 with one of his faithful steeds to interact with children and to put on an old-fashioned western show.

The senator presented Hall with a proclamation honoring him for the volunteer work he has done with children over the years, very often at community events.

“It was wonderful to see the children’s faces light up as they got to interact with the horse and learn western rope tricks,” Smith said. “I would like to thank Curly for volunteering his time. It made the day extra special.”

Welcome to the discussion.
