Working to connect the jobless in his congressional district with private and public sector employers, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-Jamaica) will host a job fair on Friday, June 11 at York College.

The event will feature seminars on reinventing oneself for new employment, returning to the workforce when over age 50 or retired and applying for federal jobs. Attendees should dress well and bring copies of their resumes and photo ID. Pre-registration is offered at house.gov/meeks.

Federal agencies that will be represented include but are not limited to the Social Security Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Air Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Among the other public and private entities expected to attend are the NYPD, TD Bank, Citibank, the Association for the Advancement of Blind and Retarded, the Council for Airport Opportunity (representing the Port Authority), Delta Airlines, JetBlue Airways, the New York State Unified Court System and the state Department of Labor.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the college, located at 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in Jamaica. Call (718) 725-6000 for details or to register.
