Laurelton teen stabbed to death; NYPD says suspect in custody

A 19-year-old Brookville man was found stabbed to death in a Laurelton barbershop on Thursday afternoon, and the NYPD said a 34-year-old suspect has been taken into custody.

Police said Carl Richardson of Brookville was unconscious and unresponsive when officers responded to a 911 call at 227-14 Merrick Blvd. just before 2 p.m.

Cedric Simpson, 34, of Cambria Heights, was arrested and has ben charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Published reports state that Richardson was stabbed repeatedly with a pair of scissors after he attempted to collect a debt.  

A statement said officers from the 105th Precinct found Richardson with multiple stab wounds  to his torso.

City EMS personnel transported him to North Shore LIJ-Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream where he was pronounced dead.

The statement from the NYPD said charges were pending against the unidentified 34-year-old man as of 7 p.m. on Thursday.
