A 20-year-old Jamaica man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his 15-year-old girlfriend to death on June 18.
Amin Abdullah of 106th Road has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Alexis Anderson of East 105th Street in Brooklyn.
He faces 25 years to life if convicted, according to a statement issued by the office of Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
“The defendant is accused of taking the life of a young girl who had her whole life ahead of her,” Brown said. “This case is another unfortunate example of the senseless gun violence that seems to more and more permeate society.”
Brown said a witness told law enforcement that Abdullah and Anderson were arguing in a second-floor room at the front of Abdullah’s residence.
Law enforcement officials allege that the witness left the room, and that between 11 and 11:43 p.m. there was a noise that sounded like a pop.
Abdullah then allegedly went to the witness’s room and together they returned to the front room, where Anderson was laying on the floor with what appeared to be blood on her head.
Police said Anderson was unconscious and unresponsive then they arrived, and determined that she had a gunshot wound to her head.
City EMS personnel responded to the residence and pronounced Anderson dead at the scene.
Brown’s office is alleging that Abdullah first told detectives from the NYPD’s 103rd Precinct that Anderson had shot herself, but later admitted to shooting her in the head with a revolver.
