Robert Tilley, left, a foreclosure services counselor with Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, presents a certificate of appreciation to Dwight Johnson, president of the Federated Blocks of Laurelton, on June 5 during the civic association’s regular monthly meeting.

The award was presented for the group’s efforts to help residents hold onto their homes in the face of the ongoing national mortgage crisis, during which Southeast Queens has had one of the highest rates of foreclosure in the country, and the highest in New York State.
