The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending a man wanted for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl last Sunday inside an elevator at the South Jamaica Housing Development in the 103rd Precinct.

Police said the attack took place at about 7:30 a.m. when a man approached the victim and followed her into the elevator where the assault took place.

Upon reaching her floor the girl screamed, causing her attacker to flee in an unknown direction.

Police are describing her attacker as a black male, who is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall.

He has a thin build, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black-and-white T-shirt and a black-and-white baseball-style cap.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity or his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public also can submit tips by logging onto nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577. All tips are strictly confidential.
