Shirley Huntley may have a lot more free time now that she is no longer the state senator for the 10th District, but the former lawmaker told the Chronicle Friday that she has “no plans” for the future.

When asked whether she aims to retire or run for another elected office, Huntley reiterated that she had no plans. The former senator, who was indicted on corruption charges just before the primary, lost the election to now-state Sen. James Sanders Jr. (D-Jamaica), who claimed more than 57 percent of the vote.

The state Senate website has been updated to reflect that Huntley is the former representative, and those who visit the page are immediately greeted with a popup window that states, “This senator is currently inactive, and this content is provided to you as an archive.” Sanders has temporaily set up shop in her old office.
