A suspect on the May 18 shooting of 14-year-old D’aja Robinson is in custody in South Carolina.
Thestate.com, a news website in South Carolina, is reporting that Kevin McClinton, 21, of Rosedale, was arrested at about 6:30 a.m. in Lexington County, SC, near the state capital of Columbia by a team that included U.S. Marshals and officers from the NYPD.
The website reported Tuesday evening that McClinton waived extradition hearings and was in the process of being transfered back to New York City.
A spokesman for the NYPD had confirmed late Tuesday morning that a man thought to be McClinton was in custody in South Carolina.
D’aja Robinson was shot to death on Sutphin Boulevard in South Jamaica after leaving a sweet 16 party when a man sprayed a Q6 city bus with nine bullets.
Law enforcement sources believe the incident may be gang-related, and that D’aja was not the intended target.
