In an effort to better communicate with his increasingly Internet-savvy constituents, City Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St.Albans) has launched a new website, leroycomrie.com.
The site allows residents to interact with the lawmaker’s office digitally and learn about resources and events that are happening throughout the city and borough as well as the southeast Queens community.
The site will feature a resources section that will list information about numerous city agencies and nonprofit organizations that provide social, economic development, youth and senior services.
There will also be links to immigration, education and other community resources. The website also has a community events calendar. It will allow individuals to email staffers directly and view the lawmaker’s press releases among other features.
Comrie paid for the domain name out of his own pocket and all the work constructing the site was done in-house by his staffers during regular office hours.
The lawmaker decided to launch his own site because he said the City Council’s website has too many layers, making it difficult for constituents to navigate and does not have the capability to handle many multi-media features.
