It was an evening of music and fun as community members moved to the music of salsa legends like Johnny Pacheco, Willie Colon and Tito Puente at “Dancing Under The Stars — A Night Of Salsa” on Friday, June 4 at Rufus King Park in Jamaica.

The event was hosted by City Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans), above back center, and the New York City Parks Department. The Lorenz Latin Dance Studio provided the entertainment for the evening and gave participants free lessons.

“Salsa dance and music is a widely popular art form with historic roots in the Caribbean, Africa and South America,” Comrie said in a statement. “It is my hope that this event will provide the community with an opportunity to experience and learn about salsa, as well as give local families a cost-free night out in one of our community’s great parks.”
