A Far Rockaway man has been charged with robbing and sexually assaulting a woman at her Jamaica apartment two months ago. DNA evidence led law enforcement to the suspect, who faces 12 and a half years in prison, if convicted.

Ronald Baker, 60, of 318 Beach 85th St. allegedly followed his female victim, 66, into her apartment building on the afternoon of February 27, placed a knife to her side and pushed her inside her apartment, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Baker then allegedly demanded the victim’s money and jewelry, threatening to kill her if she didn’t hand them over. After the victim gave Baker four bracelets, a silver necklace and silver earrings, he allegedly sexually assaulted her, District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Police obtained a floor mat that allegedly tested positive for semen and DNA testing matched it to Baker, whose genetic profile was on file with New York State, the DA said.

Baker is presently awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on charges of predatory sexual assault, first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree robbery.
