A 19-year-old man was charged with attempted murder, robbery and assault Tuesday after allegedly stabbing three people on 115th Street in Cambria Heights.
Police said Romario Walker of 113th Avenue in Cambria Heights approached the car of a 53-year-old woman when she was stopped at a light at 115th Avenue and 226th Street, and asked to use her phone. At this point he got into the car and began stabbing her.
The victim drove off during the attack before hitting a tree at 115th and 226th Street, causing the car to roll over.
At this point, two Good Samaritans approached the vehicle, kicked out the windshield to remove the woman when they also allegedly saw Walker brandishing a knife as he tried to flee. Both went after him and engaged him until forcing him to drop the knife.
The woman, with stab wounds to her head, shoulder and hands, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center along with one of her rescuers, who had a head wound. Both were in stable condition. The third victim declined medical attention.
