The NYPD on Monday arrested a suspect in the New Year’s Day shooting that killed a 22-year-old Richmond Hill man.

Police said Sheldon Smith, above, of Linden Boulevard in Jamaica, was arrested in the shooting of Julio Moro.

Smith, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to a statement issued by the NYPD on Tuesday.

Police were summoned to an address on 113th Avenue in Jamaica at 1:14 a.m. on Jan. 1. Moro, who was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel, initially was believed to have been stabbed.
