Rudy’s Pastry Shop, a mainstay in the Ridgewood community for over 70 years, recently remodeled and expanded to include a cafe. Patrons can now sit and enjoy a variety of pastries, cakes and other delicacies in a newly designed old-world atmosphere.

Here owner Toni Binanti, in apron, is joined by area residents and elected officials to celebrate the bakery’s grand reopening.

Now the German word “Konditorei” displayed on Rudy’s awning — which translates as “highly elegant pastry served in a cafe setting” — has become a reality.

“This is a great addition to the Myrtle Avenue Business Improvement District,” said Theodore Renz, executive director of the Myrtle Avenue Business Improvement District. “We hope the new Rudy’s Pastry Shop & Cafe, which now also includes an espresso bar, will be enjoyed by everyone in the community for many years to come,” Renz said. We commend Toni ... for her energy and creativity.”

Welcome to the discussion.
