Congratulations to the Tri-M Girls CYO Swim Team for their decade as Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Champions, 2003 through 2012. This marks the 10th consecutive year TRI-M has reigned supreme.

Tri-M, also known as the Mercy Martyrs Mermaids, represents Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Queen of Martyrs parishes in Forest Hills. Recognition and thanks are given by the grateful team to Head Coach Mary Leong who has built a solid team by teaching the girls to work hard, be part of the team and respect the competition.

Leong is ably assisted by coaches Alex Leong, Carolyn McNulty and Melissa Santos and the many volunteer parents who support the team. The CYO Olympics were held on March 18 and the Tri-M girls won eight gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals.

On Sunday, March 25, the CYO Diocesan Championships were held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Tri-M Girls Swim Team entered the championship meet with a dual meet record of 7. Tri-M took home the win with a score of 391 points, followed by St. Sebastian with a score of 375, Good Shepherd 275, Our Lady of Perpetual Help/St Andrew (OLAN) 270, St. Francis DeSales 221 and St. Patrick/St. Ephrem 205.

This year’s graduating seniors are wished bright futures: Kylie Chow, Cristine Codd, Katharine Keane, Katie LaBarge, Theresa Mansfield, Nicole Mele, Amanda Melivoi, Taylor Persaud, Monica Stefandl and Alexandra Taibe.
