The Fire Department emerged victorious over the NYPD after an unofficial “Battle of the Badges” last weekend pitted the first responders against each other at Queens Center to see which agency could donate the most blood.

Conducted by New York Blood Center and hosted by the Elmhurst mall, the drive netted 174 pints, well more than the goal of 100. Nearly 200 Bravest, Finest and civilians donated, according to Queens Center Senior Marketing Manager Dawn Simon.

“It was a very successful event, and we look forward to partnering with New York Blood Center to host it again,” she said.
