Lovers of classic cars and strawberry shortcake, rejoice!

The Onderdonk House at 1820 Flushing Ave. in Ridgewood will transform from a museum into a mecca for vintage rides and tasty treats at the annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 14.

From 12 to 4 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to browse the East Coast Car Association members’ classic cars while snacking on strawberry shortcake or watching pie-eating contests.

Other planned activities include children’s craft making, face painting, an archaeological exhibit and tours of the Onderdonk House, the oldest Dutch colonial stone house in New York City.

Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children between the ages of four and 12 and free for children younger than four.

Music and other live entertainment will also be provided.

A home was built on the plot of land in 1660, but the modern day Onderdonk House was constructed in 1709.

In 1982, the home was opened to the public to serve as a museum.

Welcome to the discussion.
