An argument that began at a Fresh Meadows lounge late Saturday night led to a shooting on Union Turnpike.

Police report that a dispute at an unnamed bar escalated outside it. A 30-year-old man was followed outside the lounge and shot near Union Turnpike and 180th Street early Sunday morning.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and back, and his left leg was grazed. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Police from the 107th Precinct said the investigation is ongoing. The police report did not list the name of the lounge as the shooting occurred elsewhere.

The Union Turnpike location is four blocks away from St. John’s University.

Jim Gallagher, president of the Fresh Meadows Homeowners Civic Association, said it was shocking to hear about the shooting. “This is a quiet, residential community, and I hope this is the end of it,” Gallagher said.

Carol Ann Foley, president of the 107th Precinct Community Council, did not return calls on the shooting.
