She was nominated by state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach).

“There are remarkable women in our midst whose lives, work or special accomplishments contribute to making our communities better, making our families stronger and serving as special examples to others,” Addabbo said in a statement issued by his office last week.

He said the Women of Distinction program provides a special opportunity to honor women for their achievements and to thank them for the pride they bring to their communities.

Sciulli, who has lived in Middle Village since 1939, grew up near Juniper Valley Park and attended both Resurrection Ascension Grammar School and Grover Cleveland High School.

She worked in the securities field for 15 years and formerly held a real estate license.

Sciulli serves on CB 5’s Parks Committee. She also is involved with the Glendale Civilian Observation Patrol in the NYPD’s 104th Precinct.

Sciulli is married with one daughter and four grandsons.

Addabbo’s office said all of this year’s 62 honorees are now honored in an exhibit in Albany consisting of their photographs, biographies and descriptions of their accomplishments and contributions to their communities.

The entire list for 2012 is available at www.addabbo.nysenate.gov.

Welcome to the discussion.
