A Rego Park man is in custody after allegedly raping a woman twice in a Delaware hotel room.
Shortly after midnight on March 16, Karl Hoennicke, 33, allegedly forced the victim, whom he was staying with at a Comfort Suites in Dover, to have sex with him twice after threatening to kill her if she did not comply, authorities said.
According to Hoennicke’s arrest affidavit and published reports, the Dover area native suffers from bipolar disorder and dissociative identity disorder and was not taking his medication at the time of the alleged attack.
Reports also say that Hoennicke, who lives on Queens Boulevard, had been drinking before the alleged assault.
He was arrested while still at the hotel shortly after the victim, who was discovered in the hallway outside the hotel room, called 911.
She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries, and police declined to say whether or not the victim was Hoennicke’s girlfriend.
The Rego Park resident has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape and was held on $40,000 bond.
Police said the charges could potentially be upgraded if the ongoing investigation uncovers more incriminating evidence.
