PS 174Q in Rego Park recently held its annual spelling bee.

All classes from second through fifth grade participated in classroom spelling bees. Then the finalists from each class participated in the schoolwide spelling bee by grade.

Students studied their words endlessly. The judges and announcers, Mr. Romano, Mrs. Friedman and Ms. Desvigne, had fun too! In the end, the phenomenal finalists from fifth grade — Adarsh Rana, Emily Daza, and Penelope Bevan, left — were the only ones standing. These spelling enthusiasts will move on to compete at the Queens South FSC Spelling Bee in January.

The fourth-grade winners are also pictured.

The school is buzzing with excitement and wishes them much success in the next event.
