The students of PS 153 at 60-02 60 Lane in Maspeth put on a holiday show for their peers on Thursday, with the fourth-grade band, recorder ensemble, sixth-grade chamber winds and percussion band and chorus all playing some jingle bell rock.

The fourth-grade band began the show with its rendition of “Jingle Bells,” and the recorder ensemble followed up with some seasonal tunes of its own.

The chamber winds band celebrated the coming new year with a rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” before the chorus turned some classic rock songs into Christmas carols.

The students sang “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” albeit with original holiday lyrics, and the show ended with Santa himself leading the surprised students in singing “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”
