A 32-year-old man was killed early Monday morning in a hit-and-run collision in Maspeth.

According to police, Karoll Grzegorczyk was attempting to cross Fresh Pond Road mid-block between 60th Drive and Eliot Avenue when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan traveling southbound on Fresh Pond Road shortly before 3 a.m.

The driver of the car fled the scene and when police arrived, Grzegorczyk was found unconscious and unresponsive on the roadway with trauma all over his body.

He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities said Grzegorczyk had just emerged onto the street from between parked cars when he was struck.

Police have yet to apprehend a suspect and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

I'm sad but not surprised. They drive like nuts on Fresh Pond Road.
