Glendale resident Michael Bilski, above, isn’t just a telecommunications manager at a trading firm in New Jersey anymore.
He’s now a member of the New York National Guard as well.
After completing basic training at Camp Smith in Peekskill two weeks ago, Bilski has been promoted to the rank of private and has been assigned to the search and rescue squad of the 88th Brigade, 14th Battalion, top, based in Whitestone.
“I joined because I was on the outside looking in during Superstorm Sandy,” Bilski said. “I was limited when it came to volunteering at local collection centers.”
