Nassau County police said Tuesday that they are still investigating the death of the Ridgewood boat owner who a companion said fell out of his boat near the Rockaway Inlet on Aug. 9.
The body of Stanislaw Nawrocki, 57, of Forest Avenue, was recovered several miles away in the East Rockaway Inlet a day later.
A spokesman for the Nassau County Police Department said no additional information was yet available.
No cause of death was available on Tuesday from the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office.
According to police, Janusz Sowa, 54, whom detectives have described as homeless, was operating Nawrocki’s 1990 26-foot Bayliner in the vicinity of the Crow’s Nest Marina in Oceanside at about 4 p.m. on Aug. 9.
Sowa allegedly told police that he and Nawrocki has gone out on the boat earlier in the day and that Nawrocki had fallen overboard near the Rockaway Inlet.
Sowa was arrested on a charge of boating while intoxicated and was arraigned on Aug. 10.
