The NYPD and Nassau County police are searching for four Hispanic men in connection with a carjacking and subsequent car chase that ended in Rego Park on Sunday.
According to authorities, the four suspects crashed their dark colored, older model SUV into a 2013 Land Rover driven by a 51-year-old male at Stonytown Road and Chanticlaire Drive in Flower Hill, LI at 9:45 p.m.
When the man got out to survey the damage to his vehicle, two of the suspects displayed handguns.
They robbed the victim of his wallet, jacket, car keys and an undetermined amount of money before pushing him to the ground.
The suspects then took the car and fled west on Stonytown Road, according to police.
The victim suffered a minor back injury in the carjacking and was treated at the scene, according to authorities.
The suspects then intentionally rammed a police cruiser at Northern Boulevard and Community Drive in Manhasset before feeling west onto the Long Island Expressway, police said.
The police officer in the vehicle was not injured in the crash.
The police pursuit was continued into Queens, where the suspects were able to escape authorities.
The stolen Land Rover was found unoccupied at Queens Boulevard and 62nd Drive in Rego Park, according to Nassau police.
A joint search of the surrounding area by Nassau police and the NYPD failed to produce the suspects, according to authorities.
There are no further descriptions of the suspects or the vehicle they were driving prior to the carjacking.
Anyone with information pertaining to the robbery or the police chase is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-8447. All callers will remain anonymous.
