A man was struck and killed on Wednesday, April 3, by an MTA bus in front of Elmhurst Hospital on Broadway.
At approximately 7:36 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck and upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified Hispanic male who was unconscious and unresponsive.
EMS also responded to the call and immediately transported the individual to the nearby Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Further investigation revealed that the pedestrian, whose name is unknown, had stepped into the street at the location, emerging from between two parked cars, directly into the path of a Q53 bus traveling southbound on Broadway, where upon he was struck by the vehicle.
There were passengers on the Q53 bus at the time of the accident.
The vehicle remained at the scene after hitting the pedestrian and there have been no arrests though the investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after officers finished investigating the scene, Broadway was reopened to traffic.
