The NYPD is investigating a fatal two-car accident that killed an unidentified man on the Grand Central Parkway in the early-morning hours on Thanksgiving.
Police in the 112th Precinct said the accident took place at approximately 3:20 a.m. near the Jackie Robinson Parkway interchange on Thursday.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 53-year-old man was driving east in a 2011 Honda Accord when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the median.
His car then struck a 2007 Pontiac sedan that also was eastbound. The Accord came to a stop after hitting the median barrier again.
EMS personnel transported the driver to New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police withheld the driver’s identity pending notification of his family.
The second driver was treated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.
