Borough Hall acted under new state law
Queens Borough President Melinda Katz removed six members of the Queens Library Board of Trustees on Wednesday, all of whom opposed moves to fire scandal-plagued CEO Tom Galante and allow city audits of the organization's finances.
Joseph Ficalora, a Corona native and president of New York Community Bank, the parent company of Queens County Savings Bank, was one of the six members of the board of trustees Katz removed.
Mary Ann Mattone, wife of developer Joseph Mattone, was the only member who voted against putting Galante on leave who was not sacked from the board. She is a mayoral appointee.
