Sixth graders from IS 93 in Ridgewood line up outside the Post Office on Woodbine Street with gifts they collected and packaged to be sent to U.S. military personnel serving overseas during the holiday season.

Parent Coordinator Mildred Reyes, left, guidance counselor Debby Hartz and city Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, right, helped the children send their packages off to the troops.

“I was touched to see how the young students from IS 93 understood that members of our armed forces make tremendous sacrifices and deserve to be remembered for their service,” Crowley said. “I know these gifts will brighten the days of the soldiers who will not be home for the holidays.”

IS 93 is located on Forest Avenue in Ridgewood.
