Officers with the NYPD’s Queens North Auto Larceny Unit on Friday recovered two loaded handguns from a man who allegedly tried to avoid a motor vehicle stop at 62nd Avenue in Maspeth.
Officers observed an SUV driving without its headlights on at about 3 a.m. As they approached the vehicle to stop it, the driver fled and subsequently abandoned the vehicle. Police allegedly found two .38-caliber pistols, above, in the SUV, with one located under the driver’s seat and the other in the rear of the vehicle.
Officers canvassed the area and arrested a 26-year-old Bronx man, whose identity was unavailable.
He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
