Cotton candy, oversized stuffed animals, American flags and plenty of sunshine: Maspeth’s annual Grand Avenue Festival, held last Sunday between 65th and 71st streets, had all the makings of a traditional American street fair. Festival-goers enjoyed an afternoon of live entertainment, children’s rides and carnival games with prizes galore. Above, Danielle Alzate proudly displays the goldfish she just won.

Members of local dance collective, Polonaise Folk Dancers of Maspeth, above, perform a celebratory Polish jig along Grand Avenue. Below, from right, retired firefighters Thomas Dowdle and Al Parzych hand out a fire-safety book and free smoke detector to Ashli Ginquitti and her dad, Michael.
