The seemingly endless stream of casualties resulting from collisions between motor vehicles and cyclists has claimed another victim.
Angel Torres, 46, of Glendale, was killed last Wednesday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bicycle in the intersection of Broadway and Halsey Street in Brooklyn, authorities said.
According to police, the driver of a 2014 BMW was traveling east on Broadway and struck Torres before crashing into a Toyota 4-Runner near the intersection of Broadway and Thomas Boyland Street a few blocks away, slightly injuring the occupants.
The BMW’s driver allegedly fled the scene on foot after striking the Toyota.
Torres was found by emergency medical workers to be unresponsive and suffering from severe head and body injuries.
He was transported to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
