The Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army Ridgewood Corps recently donated homemade winter hats plus boxes of personal care items and snacks for U.S. troops serving overseas in combat areas to the Marine Corps League Detachment 240 North Shore Queens.

The items will be sent to those serving in harm’s way around the holidays.

The Marine Corps League is constantly seeking donations of personal care products for men and women; hair care produces, combs and brushes; and feminine hygiene products. Clothing items include green socks, T-shirts and men’s and women’s underwear; and shower shoes.

Food items include canned tuna, chicken and microwaveable containers of stew, pasta and other hot foods. They also are requesting donations of instant power drinks, iced tea, lemonade and other beverages. Mints, hard candy and chewing gum also are welcome.

Those wishing to donate items are asked to contact the Marine Corps League through Jim Seaman at marine698@aol.com.

Welcome to the discussion.
