Five things to do in Queens this weekend! Jan. 25-27

Flights into LaGuardia Airport were being held or delayed as of Friday morning due to a lack of staffing caused by the partial government shutdown, but if you’re already in Queens, there’s plenty to do this weekend! And here’s our weekly post of just five of those goings-on.

The 10-piece Colombian music group LaCumbiamba eNeYe will hold an interactive workshop and concert and then jam with members of the audience at Flushing Town Hall on Saturday. The workshop starts at 3 p.m., the concert at 4 and the jam at 5:30 p.m. The workshop is free, and the cost for the concert at 137-35 Northern Blvd. is $14; or $8 for kids; and free for teens. Folks are running out of time to see “In Saturn’s Rings,” the 2018 “grand tour of the universe starring Saturn,” a film comprising genuine images of celestial phenomena taken by spacecraft and telescopes and narrated by actor LeVar Burton. It screens ach day through Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at the New York Hall of Science, located at 47-01 111 St. in Corona. The cost is $6; or $5 for seniors, kids and students with ID, plus NYSCI admission, which is $16; or $13 for seniors, kids and students. Info: (718) 699-0005, nysci.org

If you’ve got a yen for comedy, you might check out A Night of Laughter with Sasa Salvaggio, a performance by the Sicilian comedian with all proceeds going to the Borgetto Cultural Scholarship Fund. The laughs start at 7 p.m. Saturday at LeFrak Concert Hall at Queens College, located at 153-49 Reeves Ave. in Flushing. Tickets run $50-$80. Info: (718) 544-2996, kupferbergcenter.org

This is the weekend for the two series of monthly dance performances held at the Green Space studio. First is Take Root, with performances by Brianna Taylor/Confluence Performance Project and Marion Spencer. Performances are both tonight, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance; or $20 cash at the door; or $22 by credit card. Then on Sunday at 7 p.m. it’s Fertile Ground, featuring multiple dance troupes and a post-performance discussion with wine, moderated by Valerie Green. Tickets to that are $17. Sunday marks your chance to dispose of electronic items no longer allowed in the garbage, including TVs, computers, phones, accessories and more, at an e-waste recycling event. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Queens Botanical Garden’s Parking Garden, located at 42-80 Crommelin St. in Flushing. There’s no charge. Info: (718) 886-3800, queensbotanical.org.
