An off-duty firefighter was arrested and charged with robbery last Friday after he and a group of friends allegedly attacked and stole robbed off-duty police officer.

Lower East Side firefighter Angel Valerio was busted by police after he and three friends allegedly mugged the officer.

On June 30 the officer was walking to a train station in Forest Hills. As he walked passed Valerio and his friends, they jumped the cop in front of a TGI Fridays on Austin Street after a night of drinking, police allege.

After being attacked, the victim identified himself as a police officer and continued to walk away but the group of men allegedly followed him and punched him until he fell to the ground. Again the officer tried to identify himself and call 911 but one of the attackers knocked the phone out of his hand, police said, and Valerio continued to beat him up and then ran off with his backpack full of personal items.

The officer finally managed to run off and he was transported to a nearby hospital with scratches and bruises. The three other attackers are at large.
