On Friday morning a fatal car accident occurred in Glendale, killing a motorcyclist who was driving in the wrong direction on Woodhaven Boulevard.
At 4:30 a.m., the police responded to the scene and upon arrival, they found a 29-year-old Hispanic man lying in the roadway with severe trauma to the body.
Further investigation revealed that the man — whose name has not been released pending proper family notification — was operating a 2006 Honda motorcycle on Woodhaven and was traveling northbound in the southbound travel lanes near 78th Avenue when he struck a 2009 Jeep being driven by a 72-year-old woman who was traveling with the flow of traffic.
The woman remained at the scene after the crash.
Both the motorcyclist and the female driver were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on arrival and the woman was listed in stable condition.
It was not known why the motorcyclist was going the wrong way and the investigation is ongoing.
