Dignitaries from all over Queens and the city turned out for the wake and funeral of former City Councilman Walter McCaffrey held last Sunday and Monday, respectively. At the top, Monsignor D. Joseph Finnerty blesses McCaffrey’s coffin outside St. Sebastian’s Church in Woodside. In the center, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, front, and other mourners gather outside the Edward Lynch Funeral Home in Sunnyside, where the wake was held. Above are Councilman Leroy Comrie and former Councilman Archie Spigner, right, outside the funeral home, and above left are Queens Supreme Court Justice Kevin Kerrigan, left, and Community Board 2 Chairman Joe Conley, both close friends of the late councilman.

Welcome to the discussion.
