Bedros Yavru-Sakuk, a 62-year-old dentist with an office on Queens Boulevard in Rego Park, was charged Monday with sexually abusing a 19-year-old female patient, by inappropriately rubbing her vagina over her clothing with his elbow repeatedly without her consent.

The complainant informed detective Josephine Lalli of the Queens Special Victims Squad that she videotaped Yavru-Sakuk with his elbow pressed against her vagina with a small camera.

According to District Attorney Richard Brown, the abuses occurred between September 17, 2012 and April 9, 2013.

“The charges in this case are disturbing,” Brown said. “The defendant is accused of taking advantage of his position of power and abusing his patient while he was supposed to be treating her. This is a serious breach of trust and cannot go unpunished.”

Yavru-Sakuk was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court Monday night on charges of third-degree sexual abuse, according to Brown. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to return to court on June 20.

If convicted, Yavru-Sakuk faces up to three months in jail.

Assistant District Attorney Marjory Fisher, Chief of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Bureau, is prosecuting the case under the supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Major Crimes Charles Testagrossa and Deputy Executive Assistant District Attorney for Major Crimes Daniel Saunders.

Yavru-Sakuk, who lives in Edgewater, NJ, declined to comment, and his lawyer David Isaacson could not be reached by press time.
