Aishah Mowla, a recent Forest Hills High School graduate, has been granted a $20,000 scholarship by St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minn., where she will begin studying American Sign Language in the spring semester. She took ASL for three years in high school.

Mowla also has been participating in programs at the Queens Community House in Forest Hills for years, including Access for Young Women, which allows young women to work together and provides leadership development.
