The exposed cliff that sat at the dead end corner of 62nd Avenue and 60th Place in Maspeth has finally been fenced in.

Civic leader Charlene Stubbs first brought attention to the unprotected ledge that stands dozens of feet above train tracks a month ago.

After making some phone calls, the Chronicle determined that the plot of land was privately owned so the Department of Transportation or any other city agency could not put up a blockade without the owner’s consent.

It is unclear who is behind the newly placed chain-link fence but Stubbs, inset, said she’s happy something has been done.

“Just in time for the summer,” she said. “Now I don’t have to worry about kids running around there and falling down the cliff.”
