A 30-year-old high school teacher was arrested on Wednesday after the 14-year-old girl with whom he allegedly arranged to meet for a sexual encounter turned out to be an undercover New York City police officer.

Monsur Khan of 108th Street in Forest Hills, is a teacher at the city’s Hillside Arts & Letters Academy in Jamaica.

A statement issued by the office of Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Khan was charged on Thursday with second-degree attempted rape, second-degree attempted criminal sexual act, first-degree attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors attempted endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted on all charges.

“This case should once again serve as a reminder that sexual predators are cruising the internet in search of vulnerable victims,” Brown said. “Despite numerous publicized arrests for exactly this type of alleged behavior, sexual predators continue to be relentless in searching for victims on the Internet.”

Brown gave his often-repeated call for parents to monitor their children’s online activities in order to assure that the children are not placing themselves  in danger.

Brown and the NYPD have alleged that Khan repeatedly was in contact online with an undercover vice squad detective who posed as the 14-year-old girl between Feb. 12 and March 25.

The detective allegedly received numerous instant messages fro Khan, which Brown’s office said were sexually graphic in nature “and included an invitation to meet for sexual activity in Queens.”

Authorities allege that Khan arrived Wednesday at a prearranged location in the 109th Precinct. He then allegedly told the undercover officer that they could go to his car. He allegedly resisted attempted by police to handcuff him as officers attempted to arrest him.
